You could either save files as such in the program you use to create them, or enlist the services of a third-party platform such as EasePDF , which can make this type of document out of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files.

You won't find these options in the native document-viewing apps, however, and will need to choose from a variety of third-party solutions to gain creation and editing functionality. Several of the pre-installed apps can access and provide a preview of documents stored on the device or elsewhere, such as files linked online or stored in the cloud.

Tap a message attachment within the Email app, for example, and -- provided it's on the list of compatible file formats -- it will open for viewing. Here are the steps to follow for getting your email address approved.

Follow steps 1 — 5 as stated under Finding your Kindle email address. However, click on Preferences this time, instead of Devices. This is the list containing the email address that the Kindle will recognize.

You got to have your email in this list for the Kindle to download the files you send. For that, select the Add a new approved e-mail address Enter your e-mail address and click on Add address. Make sure you add the email address from which you intend to send the PDF files to your Kindle.

Check if your Kindle is connected to the internet. Sync your Kindle device. If not, you could try a PDF converter tool. There are plenty of great paid options and a few good free ones too, so check out our list of the best PDF editors for guidance. If that last clause makes no sense, don't worry - not many people know, but your Kindle has its own bespoke email address, using which you can send files to it.

You'll need to look up yours, as you're not told when you set up your Kindle, but it's little hassle. You'll need to head over to the Amazon website and sign in first.

Just note, the following steps are slightly different in different regions' versions of Amazon - we'll talk you through the US and UK guide, but if you're in another country, you might have to hunt around for options a little more.

In the US, to the top-right of the main Amazon screen should be an option saying 'Account and Lists'. Click this, then select 'Your devices and content', which was in the bottom-left for us. Now click 'Manage Devices'. In the UK, the 'Account and Lists' option should still be clicked to the top-right of the Amazon home page. From here, scroll past the 'Your Account' settings to the 'Digital content and devices' block to the left.

In here, click 'Content and devices', and you'll be in the same place as our US counterparts.
